Volume #5: The Power of Caring

“Care is a state in which something does matter; it is the source of human tenderness.”
When it comes to building motivation to get something done, there is no affirmation, technique, or ethic as powerful as simply and truly caring for the people affected by your efforts.
✅ Leaders who advocate for their team know this
✅ Parents who would do anything for their children know this
✅ Lovers who go to the ends of the Earth for their partners know this
Yep, that’s it: caring for others triggers primal instincts that know no bounds. When you allow yourself to care deeply for someone else, you will unleash energy you didn’t know you had and accomplish goals that would otherwise be impossible.
And yet, the collective perception of ‘caring’ is too often blind to the relationship that makes all others possible: Your relationship to yourself. Caring is not just about being there for everyone you love. It’s also about checking in with yourself on a regular basis, and attending to what you discover when you ask:
How did you talk to yourself today?
Are you physically comfortable in your body?
Do you have the time you need to make an important decision?
Here’s the turning point: When you discover that nourishing yourself with love and compassion enables you to care even more deeply for others, you will be unstoppable.
