Volume #7: Embracing Seasonality In Women’s Wellbeing

“Be aware of what season you are in and give yourself the grace to be there.”

Seasonality is on our mind here at Simplish! And no - we don’t mean the kind of seasonality that involves gifting, gathering and loading up on pumpkin pie until you can’t zip your pants.
We’re thinking about the type of seasonality built into women’s biology. That’s right.
Ho ho hormones! As you may know, changes in your hormonal balance throughout your life have an immense impact on your overall wellbeing. The truth is that we tend to focus on the challenges that these changes present (think of the shame shrouding puberty, mood swings associated with menstruation, and debilitating hot flashes of menopause).
And yet, these changes set the rhythm of our lives. By tuning in to the rhythm of seasonality set by your hormones, you can make mindful decisions that honor your whole being and live in sync with yourself in a deep way.
On the blog this month, we asked: How can women harness natural hormonal shifts to find flow?
We talked to a flow expert (yes, that’s a real job title) to find out. Wenlin Tan is a coach with expertise in flow, well-being and mindfulness who shared her holistic expertise about the cycles that define women’s wellbeing at every stage of live through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine. If you’re menstruating, don’t miss our article on Cycle Syncing According to Traditional Chinese Medicine featuring Wenlin Tan.
Are you in menopause? The article Menopause Is the 'Second Spring' from the Grove Clinic offers a refreshing perspective for mature women through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
